Generative Art

Coding and its uses are beginning to rise when applied to the field of architecture, influencing new parametric forms that weren’t ever possible, as well as exploring the possibility of infinite variations. By diving into scripts and programming, and how it can abstract an image, I hope to explore the options coding offers on image maniuplation through several iterations of “pixel sorting”. “Pixel sorting” uses an algorithm to take sections of an image and stacks pixels in order of light to dark, or vice versa, according to its values of hue, brightness, contrast, orientation, and luminosity. After the program processes mulitple versions, the variations are then layered, selecting the most effective areas of effect to create a final altered image, each dependent on the sorting method used.
